The Report’s key parameter is the time period called the base period, which is important for identifying improvements towards the achievement of the energy target of the public entity/ organization. Usually, the base period of 12 months is considered to be the most satisfactory. During this time frame, the EPIs are recorded and assessed for their validity in relation to the developed forecasting models. In order to assess the trend of energy performance, the EPIs should be quantified and compared with previous reports. This gives an order of magnitude on EPIs trends, in terms of targeting the specific objective set by the energy management strategy of each public entity/ organization.
Critical additional parameters are the base period and the reasons for its definition and how the EPIs are calculated and presented within the base period.
