1.Energy Performance Indicators (EPI)

The Indicator’s aim is to measure the energy performance of each infrastructure examined, in relation to the characteristic sizes of the infrastructure, so that each performance may be comparable to other similar infrastructures or even to standard values.  The EPIs are essential for public entities and organizations, as they allow the identification of alterations in energy efficiency trends. The most common size used to characterise a building infrastructure is its total heated surface, so the EPI is expressed in kWh/m2.

Once the characteristic size is determined, the EPI limits are then selected. The usual limit for the selected EPI is the building in which the energy use has been clearly identified (e.g., lighting, heating/cooling and similar).
